Lean in Closer had a gentle tone. My hope was the work dictated people to lean in, take in all the details and breathe. It looked at artists who evoke visual narratives in their work, each telling stories with his or her unique vernacular. Through suggestion, color, repetition, and a familiar hand, these makers push their respective genres forward while honoring the tradition of folk. 'Lean In Closer' is hence a suggestion to look more closely at these stories.
